The assembly of a truck axle is very complex which include the fitting of various partsaround the whole circumference of the axle, we were tasked to provide a solution which would improve tact time as well as operator ergonomics. An axle rotation fixture was locally designed and manufactured that would not only lift the axle to the preferred height (z axis) but it could be rotated 360 degrees (Y axis). The result was a reduction in tack time and an improvement to the operator’s ergonomics.
